Family and Children’s Services

At just under 18,000 sq. ft., the finished building accommodates: Administrative areas (including work stations and support spaces) for 52 persons and Public Areas including 12 Visitation and Interview Rooms, a Life-Skills Training Room, a Youth Room, a Case Conferencing/Community Outreach Room, a Children’s Play Room and as well as a self-contained Family Counselling Centre. Careful security features factor into the layout and facility design, limiting public access and providing plentiful emergency provisions. Outdoor amenities included an enclosed Children’s Play Yard, two enclosed Staff Courtyards and full site improvements including parking for 80 vehicles and access provisions for routine service and maintenance vehicles. 

This project received an Honourable Mention in the 2011 Niagara Community Design Awards in the category of “Architecture” for general excellence in Architectural Design.
